Welcome to Masseria Saittole

MASSERIA “SAÌTTULE PICCINNE” (MASSERIA SAITTOLE)

The Masseria “Saìttule Piccinne” (Masseria Saìttole) is a historical
farmhouse with an internal courtyard, surrounded by fortified dry stone
walls.

The Masseria was built in 18th century and abandoned in the 60’s, and
recently been through years of careful restoration. The old colonial house
and the stables have been converted into rooms.

The farmhouse today is also a modern farm producing organic olive oil. In
the olive groves there are more than 2000 olive trees (some of them are
over 800 years old).

The farm extends over 20 hectares, in the past was used for cereals’
cultivation, olive oil production, cattle breeding and tanning. Of particular
significance is an ancient hand dug well, reaching a depth of 50 meters, one
of the few remaining today in the province of Lecce. In the land
surrounding the Masseria there are six “Furnieddhi” from the 18th century,
and two caves that were once the hermitage of Basilian monks.
